5 Home Remedies To Get Rid of Piles 

Many a time people suffering piles are often fretting over finding an appropriate solution to their problem. Although it can take time to show effective results, some remedies that can be easily done at home to deal with piles.   • Take a sitz bath

A sitz bath is a small bowl that offers a convenient way to soak and help you soothe out the pain from the anal area. Sit in warm water several times a day for 15 minutes to get relief from itching, irritation, minor pain. A sitz bath works by increasing the blood flow to the perineal area (space between the rectum and vulva/scrotum). This helps to shrink the hemorrhoids and ultimately cure them. The doctor can prescribe you medications or other additives that have antibacterial properties to put in a sitz bath. You can add table salt, apple cider vinegar or Epsom salts to help you soothe out the discomfort. 

  • Apply witch hazel

Witch hazel is a plant that has wonderful anti-inflammation properties. This is a natural astringent that is directly applied to the skin and scalp to soothe out irritation or discomfort. You can directly apply these to the external hemorrhoids to get relief.  Apply it directly to the affected area with a soft cloth or cotton ball. This will help you get relief from the itching, redness, pain and swelling associated with piles. Witch hazel can also be taken orally by mixing it with green tea. This also contains antioxidant properties that protect the cell against damage. 

  • Use apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid. Acetic acid is another type of astringent. The vinegar is widely used for skin-related issues as this has a rich content of anti-bacterial properties. Drinking the diluted vinegar has proven to reduce skin irritation and burns. Considered popularly as a folk remedy, this shrinks organic tissues and thereby, suppressing inflammation too. It is recommended that you don’t directly apply it to either internal or external hemorrhoids or even during pregnancy. 

  • Consume psyllium husk

One of the prime factors for the development of piles is chronic constipation. This is a form of fiber which is beneficial for both the heart and digestive tract. Commonly known as ishabgol, psyllium is a bulk-forming laxative. This helps in relieving constipation by soaking water from your gut and making the bowel movement smooth and regular. Apart from curing chronic constipation and keeping the bowel movements smooth, psyllium also makes your stool in addition to drinking lots of fluids. Hence, if you are able to keep constipation away, you reduce your chances of developing piles!

  • Apply aloe vera gel

Aloe vera is a plant that provides relief from burning, itching and swelling in the anal region caused by the piles. It is safe that you apply it directly in pure form without any additives and preservatives as the symptoms can get worse.  This is an age-old remedy for treating piles and various skin conditions. Rich in amti-inflammatory properties, this reduces skin irritation. To check whether you are allergic to aloe, take a small amount and rub it in your forearm. If it burns, stop its usage.
